Room in the Inn

room in the innIf you are interested in knowing about how to be involved in this ministry for homeless persons, please speak with Chris Luter.  Sign up to help serve dinner or spend the night with our guests.

Farmington Presbyterian will be hosting Room in the Inn the first and third Saturday’s of the month at Germantown United Methodist Church.  This ministry provides housing for homeless persons from November – March.

Each time we host, we will need a group of people to prepare a meal for the evening: a casserole or meat, side, salad, bread, and dessert.  The meal should serve our 12 guests and the 6-8 of us hosting them.  The food needs to be cooked and prepared ahead of time and delivered to GUMC at 5 pm.  There are ovens to warm things up at the host site.

We will need 6 people to host our guests each evening.  The time frame will be 4:45 – 9:45pm.  These people will prepare the beds, warm and serve the dinner, and fellowship with our guests until lights out at 10pm.

We will need 2 people to spend the night at GUMC with our guests.  The time frame will be 9:00 pm – 7:00 am.  These people will also prepare coffee in the morning, put out a to-go breakfast for our guests, and clean up in the morning.  These people can also serve as one of the evening hosts as well.  We need one male and one female for this position.

We will need 2 people to volunteer to launder the sheets, pillow cases, and blankets each Sunday afternoon after we host our guests.  This is a great way for someone who cannot be there in the evenings to still be a part of this ministry.
